Brief History / Legal Bases of Creation
The municipality of Magsaysay was formerly a part of the municipality of San Jose. The growing population and the need to bring government services closer to the people in the northern barrios prompted local leaders to advocate for the creation of a new municipality.
Through the efforts of then Congressman Nene S. Pimentel Jr. and local officials, Executive Order No. 321 was signed by President Carlos P. Garcia on April 25, 1969, creating the Municipality of Magsaysay. It was named in honor of the late President Ramon Magsaysay, a champion of the common man ("Masa").
The first set of municipal officials was sworn into office, marking the beginning of Magsaysay's journey as an independent local government unit. Since its creation, the municipality has steadily progressed, focusing on agricultural development, infrastructure improvement, and enhancing the quality of life for its constituents.
